| 2nd Annual International Essay Contest for Young People Respect for Life" By Briana Padilla, age 13 What is life? God, Allah, Krishna or any other God that you worship created life. God created the air we breathe, the waters we drink and the ground we walk on. God is the essence of life. To become like God is why were all here on planet Earth. Everyones true nature is peace, tranquility and harmony within. When we learn to create peace within, we become a creator like God. One way you can become more God-like is to meditate. Buddha, Jesus or any other disciple you can think of, meditated. I can see the importance of meditating every day. Right now Im learning to become a creator by doing meditation, concentration and interpreting my dreams. What does it mean to respect all life? To me respect means to care for the world we live in. One way to do this is by being considerate, generous, friendly and loving to others and ourselves. One good way of loving ourselves is to give a hug to ourselves every day. To be in harmony you would have consideration for all life. When you see that God is in everything and everyone, you feel the need to take care of the world we live in. I can sometimes feel God when Im doing yoga or mantras. Ive discovered after you do yoga you feel refreshed and replenished. That is why I do yoga at least one time a day. I also become so much more comfortable and flexible in life. How can human beings live in harmony with one another and with all life on earth? We can be in harmony by thinking of others unconditionally, respecting one another, honoring our family and friends and by living the Golden Rule. The Golden Rule is Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Many religions have forms of the Golden Rule, like in Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Hinduism and so many others. This is an example of how people all over the world are connected by common ideals. What are the things you can do immediately, and What do you wish to do in the future? One of the things I can do immediately is pray for peace and expand my light around the world. I must also take actions, like teaching people what Ive learned. Even teaching all ages, people younger or older than me. Another action I can take is cleaning up trash along the highways and roads, which will help the environment and animals. I also would like to travel around the world and learn about different cultures and make new friends. Then I can be in touch with more than one part of the world. I think this will open new avenues of how people think, so they will have a deeper meaning for life. I also think eventually the things I do will plant seeds of love and light, for the whole universe. copyright 2002, School of Metaphysics Return to Index | | |
