Peace Thoughts From Morning Meditation July 17, 2010 Peace Conference
Peace Ambassadors and College of Metaphysics
Students unite in the upper chamber of the Peace Dome each morning at 5:30 for recitation of the Universal Peace Covenant. This is a practice for those studying on campus. In honor of the conference and in the interest of beginning the day with the highest seed thought - samadhi in yoga - those present are led through the steps to create the awakened mind pattern which they will bring into meditation. A line from the covenant is chosen and an image is drawn to illustrate it. Then the meditation practice is initiated. In hopes of encouraging you to experience this taraka yoga form of mental discipline, we share some of the lines chosen and the sketches ambassadors made.

Laurel Clark

"Arising from the spirit, peace seeks expression through the mind, heart, and body of each individual."

Peace is a natural urge that comes from light, the essence of who we are.  It arises from a still mind, allowing us to resonate with wholeness.

Diantha

"Peace is active, the motion of silence, of faith, of accord, or service."

Allowing spirit to move through you, being still so that it may lead and direct you towards enlightening service.  Have faith and trust that the Lord knows how you will best serve the community.  Action through receptivity.

Jesse A. Kern

"We vow to speak with sagacity, listen with equanimity, both free of prejudice, so that we may come to know that peace is liberty in tranquility."

To me, this time is the central core, the foundation, of this covenant because it defines what peace is and describes how to get there: two-way, still minded, neutral communication.  I need to be free of judgement and prejudice and I need the liberty in tranquility in my life.

Lindy Stafford

"Peace is our birthright."

I am quite sure in the beginning our Creator’s intentions were so that Peace was to be our birthright.  I guess in the learning necessary with the ego is also an example of humanity to come to the realization this is a truth.  For me this picture is eternity so a few thousand years of learning does not seem so long, now this must be realized.

Ericka Iles

Evolve collective consciousness regarding our ideas of peace.  Changing our thoughts, and shifting our thinking from operating from “lack of peace” to a place in mind that operates “abundance of peace” will create and sustain it, activating peace and creating a society of individuals who know and understand the value of operating as a unit functioning in harmony, recognizing and cultivating the true desires of all humanity for the greater good of the whole.

Paula Soder

"Living peaceably begins by thinking peacefully."

I desire to bring peace to my community, and to do so, I must find it within myself.  I will embrace a life that is peaceful and will discipline myself to think peacefully.  I desire to fulfill my past of the greater plan.

Kerry Keller

"World peace begins within ourselves."

Peace is a state of mind, one of calmness, bliss, security, giving, happiness and expectation, that it is all inclusive.  It is a motivation, an expectation and a right.  It fulfills our purpose and unites us in connectedness because it begins with the giving and receiving of love.

Terrence Bellows

Thought is the power-cause of existence.  I have been very determined to exact a loving change in my life.  The only way that will be a reality is by my own self direction toward being a whole functioning person and I know that to be beautiful and I will dedicate my self to being a peaceful soldier of love through the power-cause of thinking prayerfully and knowing myself as divine and a creator through love.

Jeimmy Cesar

"We come together, all of humanity, young and old of all cultures from all nations.  We vow to stand together as citizens of the Earth knowing that every question has an answer, every issue a resolution.”

I love this statement.  First of all, by addressing us as citizens of the Earth, it assumes a breakdown of all the labels used to separate us.  The idea that every question has an answer makes the concept of war to settle disputes ridiculous.  To know that the answer exists is incredibly comforting.  It also encourages us to seek these answers and resolutions because it establishes that they exist and that the reality can be attained.

Dianna Kenny

"Peace is achieved by those who fulfill their part of a greater plan."

In me this occurs as I relieve my karmic and fulfill my dharmic obligations.  As I learn to focus on aiding others to spiritual knowledge, knowing the Real Self, the potential of the Real Self to give what is mine to give, Realization of the inner secrets guidance/wisdom.  I will know peace and promote peace.  I will be a peacemaker because I will enbody peace.  There are no doubts when we are doing what we’re here to do.  There is confidence, happiness, joy.

Doug Bannister

"Living peaceably begins by thinking peacefully."

The idea peace to become an outward expression begins as a thought, a desire that is nurtured and cared for as is any living thing we wish to grow and thrive.  As we give peace any attention our whole mind begins to support the state of mind called peace where we find alignment and contentment and fulfillment.

Gerri Walker

"We call upon each family to generate and nurture peace within the home."

Home is where we get our beginnings for each lifetime.  If we would focus on nurturing peace within the home this would become a familial habit or routine.  Therefore each child growing up in that home would consider this a normal part of their life at the onset.  This would resonate with each child and adult within the home and expand to the neighbors and community.  This would give us a running start on spreading peace throughout the world.

"Peace is the breath of our spirit."

I think of spirit as having to do with breath- inspiration.  Breath aids us to be in the present moment.  Giving and receiving with people is a form of breath.  connection without and within.  As we give and receive within our own mind – dreams, meditation, thought transferrence, visualization, etc.  We are also continually fed breath from Superconscious mind – Light- infinite life force.  How do those sources bring peace?  To align, to receive them is to be open, present, generous humble and aligned or entrained, head and heart.

Holly Keahey

"Peace is the breath of our spirit.  It wells up from within the depths of our being to refresh to heal to inspire."

I want to manifest peace in my body today.  I want peace to counteract the chaos of nicotine addiction, to bring my body in alignment with the Peace Covenant.

Stacie Mitchell

"World Peace begins within ourselves."

We are all agents of change.  Change starts with each individual.  I Stacie L. Mitchell commit myself to be an agent of peace.  I will create the change I want to see on earth by being an example of peace.

Pam Blosser

"As we stand together united in common purpose we hereby commit ourselves in thought and action so we might know the power of peace in our lifetimes."

Standing together means all aspects unified walking together, aligning in common purpose.  Our purpose is to know ourselves as creators to realize – remember who we are – creators common, commune.  Let us commune in our common purpose.  Commiting in thought and action my thoughts are the seed idea/cause of the action.  Intent upon healing myself and others.

"Peace is achieved by those who fulfill their part of a greater plan."

The purpose of the School of Metaphysics is to accelerate the evolution of humanity by ushering in intuitive spiritual man.  When I am actively aligned with this purpose I feel the sense of peace and centeredness within the real Self.  The feeling is that I am part of something very sacred, great, profound.  It is a sensation of being with the creator.

Walter Hryjac

"Peace is first a state of mind."

Everything begins and ends with you.  If I want to be the change I want to see in the world, I need to change my mind first and then everything will adjust according to my thoughts.  If I am peaceful my world will be peaceful.  If I am angry my world will be angry.

Corley Sadaka

"We vow to stand together as citizens of the earth knowing that every question has an answer, every issue a resolution."

We must come together to bring peace about on earth.  Individuality is best fulfilled in unity.  If we would join our hearts, we can make a profound impact.  Let go of any thoughts of separation and just recognize that we are all aspects of each other.  If we can ask a question, there is most surely an answer to that question.  Know that in that same way all conflicts have a resolution.  There is an answer, there is a need to ask questions so that we can begin to understand the other’s perspective.

Allan Rider

"Self direction promotes inner peace and therefore leads to outer peace."

Self direction, guidance and motivation provided by the self, or preferably the Self.  It is kind of like knowing what my purpose is for what I am doing.  I have found that when I have a clear purpose then even if I make a mistake or realize my activity should be something different.  I feel a sense of security because I know why I did what I did.  This kind of inner motivation disconnects the habitual thoughts of unproductive judgment that play in my head.
