THE SEARCH FOR SEVENTH CONTINENT

When Shawn Campbell, the web designer of our site(2002), arrived on Thursday looking for a way to help for Peace Dome Dedication the serious movement to find someone in Antarctica to read the Universal Peace Covenant began. This is how a trail of emails and several phone calls culminated in the land at the bottom of our world joining One Voice.

Shawn began by sending the following email to cruise lines....

Hello from the Midwest!

We are dedicating the Peace Dome here in Windyville, MO, USA this Saturday, October 11th at 1pm CT. Our dream and vision is that at this time, people all over the world will join their voice with ours by reading the Universal Peace Covenant (text below) in one syncronized effort. We are calling this the One Voice initiative. Currently, we have people on 6 continents who have committed to reading the covenant with us. We have yet to hear from anyone in Antarctica. We would be thrilled to have all continents represented in our One Voice initiative. Can you help us in finding someone currently in Antarctica who could read the Universal Peace Covenant with us at 1pm CT Saturday, October 11th? (I believe that this is 4am Sunday, October 12th in Antarctica)

You can read more about this by clicking on the following link

Dear Dave,

Thank you so much for the information. Do you know anyone in particular at Raytheon who I could contact? I just know that there will be someone there who can read the covenant! It is amazing to me to think about someone on all 7 continents reading it at the same time.

If you are in support of the Universal Peace Covenant, please join us in reading it at 1pm CT this coming Saturday. The more people we have joined in this effort, the stronger our One Voice will be. And pass it along to anyone you know who would also be interested!

Thanks again!

Shawn

Shawn,
Thanks for the e-mail...try contacting the "Antarctic Sun"...this the newspaper from the US Station McMurdo Base...

Thank you for your reply. We are not fluent in Spanish, so didn't
completely understand your email. Did you forward the information to
someone who might be able to read the Covenant that day? We also have it
availalbe in Spanish if that is helpful.

Thank you again!

Dear Shawn:

I am sorry about that, but I am not sure if they speak english. I think
they could help you reading the covenant that day. If they need it in

One lead ran us back by the National Science Foundation again. Shawn didn't know we'd already been that route....

Hello!

And thank you for thinking of us. We support anything that promotes world peace! Unfortunately, we don't have anyone based in Antarctica (our company
is actually based in Sydney, Australia). The tours we run there actually
start on various other continents, and we charter a ship to take us down and
back. Perhaps you'd be better off contacting a research group down there?

Dear Emily,

Thank you for your reply! If you would like to join with us tomorrow as we read the Peace Covenant, you can join in our One Voice initiative. The more people we have, the stronger our one voice will be.

Do you have any ideas about a particular group to contact? I sent a lot of emails to the folks that work through the NSF, and also anyone I could find from Raytheon's website, but if you know someone in particular that would be great! Thanks for the help.

Peace be with you,

Shawn

After dinner Shawn and Ernie got together in the library to go online and begin making phone calls. From Christchurch, New Zealand to Scott Base at the South Pole, they kept letting people know what was happening and how they could represent their country/continent. One thing led to another, as you will see.

Give Chaplain Norm Williams a call at McMurdo, from the USA the number is

able to get a group together.

Hi Lynn,

We get requests like this a lot and do our best to comply in some manner.
They have their time zones confused, which is normal. If you could give this

Thanks.

Dear Shawn Campbell,

Greetings from the South Pole! We received your email yesterday, regarding the Universal Peace Covenant and your Peace Dome. As Antarctica is the world's example of international cooperation, with the entire continent set aside for peaceful scientific research and collaboration, we felt it necessary to be represented for such a cause.

Today, a couple of us got up early and read your note at the designated time. The temperature was -74F (with windchill, it was -132F) and it was very windy. So we opted to read the covenant in the warmth of the new station's galley, where we have a lovely view of the geographic South Pole, (and little fear of the covenant blowing away!) Then we went out to the Geographic South Pole for a photo (see attached).

Good luck with the Peace Dome!

Cheers from the bottom of the world!

Dear Lynn,

We were thrilled when we received your email and so grateful that everyone
there responded in the ways that you did. The picture was delightful, and
I have to tell you that I was so excited when I opened it that I kissed the
computer screen! You have aided us in fulfilling a vision that means a lot
to us here and to many people all over the world.

I've learned a lot about Antarctica in doing research and trying to make
contact with people there, and I have been amazed and grateful that there
is a place on this planet like it. In many ways, it exemplifies the
cooperation, community and united consciousness that the School of
Metaphysics is here to bring to all of the world. So in that also, I am
grateful that you all participated.

I saw some pictures of your new station online-it looks beautiful! Kind of
like a space station. And I was happy too in reading how you all have new
people coming about every 6 months to live in your community. We too are
building a community of every changing people here at our College of
Metaphysics and in that also I saw more connections.

Again, thank you for responding to our request and I wish all of you there
at the South Pole much peace and success in your endeavors. Is there anyway to send mail to you? I would love to send you some mementoes of the Peace Dome Dedication. Please let me know. I have also attached a few photos of the day.

Peace be with you!

I send you my Circle of Love,

Shawn

REPLY

Dear Shawn,
Thanks for your email! We were very happy to help. The two of us in the photo have been in every peace demonstration that we have had down here at the South Pole this winter season. (This makes our third one...we had one in February and then took part in a peace vigil in March) I was also part of a peace demonstration last summer season at McMurdo station (where I worked October to February), when we made a human peace sign on the sea ice...

Unlike other parts of Antarctica, the South Pole is very isolated for a longer period of time, due to the extreme weather found here. (Our low this season was -102F, and that is NOT including windchill!!) The first flight is set to arrive on October 24....(our last flight of the season was Feb 15.) Our international station has 57 people representing the USA, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Australia. Very cool. (no pun intended!!:)

.....
We have 20 knot winds today, and OUR dome has been socked in with drifting snow....had to climb up a hill of snow to get to the new station this afternoon!! What a SURPRISE!! Glad the weather was better yesterday for our photo.

Aloha for now,

Lynn

Thanks Lynn, and everyone who played a part in making history. We needed Antarctica to participate and you certainly came through for us! Perhaps we can all do it again on New Years!
