“The peace thought form rises with the sun this beautiful, soft winter day at the Peace Dome,” observes Dr. Barbara Condron, School of Metaphysics Governor of International Education and creator of the One Voice Peace Vigil. “We are preparing ourselves and all of humanity to meet the opportunities ahead, recognizing that situations in and of themselves are neutral, and [that] we choose their benefit or detriment for self and humanity.”
Years ago, Dr. Condron wrote the following in a book called What Will I Do Tomorrow? Probing Depression:
The individual always has the right to determine what he will accept into his vibratory pattern the types of people he knows, the books he will read, the temperance of his own living. He has every possible opportunity for a positive existence if he will only choose to take it. This constructive channeling of energy through the mental attitude of redesigning the view of the Total Self refines the vibratory pattern, creating a stronger healthier energy field. This refinement is projected into the environment with a continuing peace and contentment, which radiates from the core of this positive vibratory pattern.
That being said, December 31, 2011 to January 1, 2012 marked the Ninth Annual 24 Hour One Voice Peace Vigil sponsored by the School of Metaphysics. Students and faculty from around the Midwest gather to read the Universal Peace Covenant when a time zone moves into the New Year. Held each year in the World’s Peace Dome on the College of Metaphysics campus in southwest Missouri, USA, the One Voice Peace Vigil is an evolutionary movement in the peace consciousness of the participants. Written over nine months in 1996-97 by over two-dozen School of Metaphysics teachers, the Universal Peace Covenant is a document solely about what peace is: “liberty in tranquility” (Universal Peace Covenant).

“According to the Map of Consciousness, a result of Dr. David Hawkin's kinesiology work, "Peace" calibrates at 600 on the human energy field, far above the 200+ range where humanity as a whole sits today,” Dr. Condron explains. “Spending some time each day in prayer and meditation causes your thought to elevate, and elevated thought brings higher states of consciousness. It opens the mind to possibilities previously unseen.”

2012 Twenty-Four Hour One Voice Peace Vigil
“’Peace is first a state of mind.’ This is the ninth time that One Voice has moved across the face of the earth,” tells Dr. Christine Madar, a mother of two and College of Metaphysics faculty member. “Just as the School of Metaphysics’ Circle of Love touches everyone on the planet, the Universal Peace Covenant has blessed all people, consciously, at the beginning of a Gregorian New Year. The upper chamber of the Peace Dome is warm tonight, heated with candles and the great energy magnified by powerful meditators, expectantly listening on all levels of mind.”
“I like the Peace Dome,” says five-year-old Vivienna Faythe Madar. “I like to hold the candle and I like to blow it out too. When people read the Universal Peace Covenant, it sounds great.” The One Voice Peace Vigil ceremony included one person touching holy water infused with the thought of peace and then ringing a bell to announce the New Year in that part of the world. Another participant also touched the holy water and lit a candle off a flame that burned throughout the vigil. That candle was then passed around the circle of people reading or reciting the Universal Peace Covenant, infusing the flame with these high thoughts of peace. The candle then lit a tea light that was placed on the altar representing the time zone that had just passed into the New Year.
“Participating in the Peace Vigil has been an experience in creating a “heartbeat” for peace,” said Corley Sadacca, an occupational therapist based in Dallas, Texas. “Reciting the Universal Peace Covenant as a group together upon the turn of every time zone sets an example of how peace can spread across the world. As its message is consistently shared and received, its heartbeat continues to resound throughout the world.”
As the people in each time zone around the world were honored with a reading of the Universal Peace Covenant, each individual in the Peace Dome giving this gift was touched in the process. “As we read the Peace Covenant together as one voice, I feel connected to everyone around me,” Jack Sullivan, a barber and yoga teacher-in-training from Dallas, Texas related. “I feel that I am an important part of the whole. There is no better way to ring in the New Year than with like minded people with a vision of peace for all humanity.”
Others recognized the state of mind present in the day’s participants. “There is a strong synergy of gratitude and love among all present,” said Kyle Uhlich, a new School of Metaphysics student from Tulsa, Oklahoma. “I have been especially moved by the Universal Peace Covenant after reading it I feel energized and alive. It is amazing to be a part of something greater than my Self. My dream is to help create world peace, however grandiose that may sound.”
