Universal Hour of Peace 2010 - 2011 in the West | The Universal Hour of Peace 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma With homemade food, the Vice President of the School of Metaphysics and an energetic and free-spirited eight-year-old and a few friends of the School of Metaphysics in Tulsa gathered at the school to bring in the New Year with a program that opened the heart to inner peace and joy. We started the night at 8:00 p.m. with a meal of various love-filled treats, which was followed by an introduction from our director, Bryon Parrino. Terrence Bellows, Tulsa School of Metaphysics Peace Ambassador and last year’s school representative to the 24-Hour One Voice Peace Vigil, spoke about the magnitude of what we connect with all over the world through the Universal Hour of Peace and One Voice Vigil. Those in attendance communicated how clearly they received the images from Terrence's experience that he described. There was an instant connection made to the current Peace Vigil attendees in the Peace Dome of the campus of the College of Metaphysics in Windyville, MO. Terrence also gave a snippet performance from The Invitation, a play about Peace in which he portrays Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Noble Peace Laureate of 1965. True, heartfelt love and appreciation was shared between those in attendance, with a heart-opening affirmation exercise led by Bryon. Ivy Norris, School of Metaphysics Vice President and South Area Director, added her experience, expertise, joy, light, and love through leading a Qigong exercise, which helped settle the energies in the room and added to the full reception of the peace-filled night. Light emanated from the Tulsa School of Metaphysics group and connected with other delegations in the city investing themselves in bringing peace into the world through the simultaneous reading of the Universal Peace Covenant at midnight. | | The Universal Hour of Peace in Oklahoma City, OK By Doug Bannister We chose a different format this year with our new Peace Ambassador, Holly Keahey, leading the Universal Hour of Peace at the School of Metaphysics in Oklahoma City. Ryan Jones, who led the previous few New Year’s events, ably supported Holly's efforts and shared his years of experience. While our evening had some form, we wanted the sharing of ideas about peace to be an important part of the evening. Following Ryan's presentation of the concept that individual peace leads to lasting family, community and world peace, each person was encouraged to share their ideas of peace and many did discuss their thoughts. We sang familiar School of Metaphysics songs, ate lovingly prepared and nourishing food, read the Universal Peace Covenant together at midnight, and closed with a Circle of Love. We built a strong thought form of what it is to be a loving community. Most of the people who attended stayed until after 2:00 a.m. Several of us who have participated in other Universal Hours of Peace events agreed this experience was more fulfilling than any other. Our consensus is that having the focus of the event be on inner peace, individually built and nurtured, was more true to the ideal of the School of Metaphysics than including diverse traditions as we have in previous years. It was a grand night in Oklahoma City! | | The Universal Hour of Peace in Kansas City, KS By Dr. Terry Martin Kansas City School of Metaphysics students shared the Universal Peace Covenant with Trinity United Methodist Church, which hosted a gathering to ring in the New Year in a Peaceful way. Joining with everyone present, the students read the Peace Covenant along with fifty other souls at the strike of midnight. One man remarked that this was the best way to start the New Year that he could think of. The School of Metaphysics made new friends and contacts in the community through the experience. | | Become a Peace Financier | CONTACT US Peace Dome • College of Metaphysics • Windyville, Missouri 65783 USA • Let us know you are participating by emailing your name/city/state-country to: peace@som.org | | Thank you for being the change!
