Universal Hour of Peace in the East | Universal Hour of Peace in Columbia, Missouri The School of Metaphysics had a quiet, focused, and present Universal Hour of Peace. Just a few days before Christmas, student Crystal Mena and director Paul Madar received a Proclamation of the Universal Hour of Peace from Mayor McDavid of Columbia in person. The Columbia Daily Tribune printed the news about Mayor McDavid proclaiming the Universal Hour of Peace and invited citizens to join in reading the Peace Covenant at midnight on New Year's Eve. Janice, the reporter with the Tribune, wants to do a more thorough follow-up article about the School of Metaphysics after becoming intrigued by the proclamation. A newer student, Barbara Mitchell, and her 15 year-old daughter Autumn, who both attended Dr. Laurel Clark's Power of Personal Connection seminar in October, brought dozens of peace covenants to the City of Columbia's First Night celebration. First Night is a national New Year's event that gives families fun, active, and wholesome alternatives in the local community on New Year's Eve. Barbara gave out Peace Covenants, explaining how the School of Metaphysics received the Mayor's blessing for One Voice at midnight. She focused on the Missouri United Methodist Church area because that is where we will be presenting the PBS/POV Edge of Dreaming film and discussion on January 22, 2011. Barbara felt a little nervous at first, but after simply talking to receptive people, she shifted her attention off of herself and realized the gift she was giving. She loosened up and enjoyed the interactions with people and with her daughter. |
