All People Desire Peace

Karen Mosby's story

I was very excited about being a part of the Alliance for a New Humanity. When I heard Dr. Laurel announce the conference I had a great desire to be there. An inner voice told me that this was what I was waiting for. I have a great desire to connect with people, to talk about the school and what we teach, and to share the Peace Covenant. I know that it has had such a profound effect on my own life that I want to share it with everyone. I felt that this opportunity to share with others was an extension of the film that I have been creating with Dr. Laurel, John M, John H, and Mari on the Universal Language of Mind. One of the things that we are showing in this film is that we all united in our desire for peace, in our desire to make a difference in the world.

At the conference I realized that these people had come together for a common goal to try and make the world a better place. I saw it as an opportunity to talk to others about the idea of peace. I had many conversations with people who were really interested in the Peace Covenant. I shared with them the idea that peace needs to begin with each of us and what that meant to me.

It was really a global meeting. There were people from all over the world — Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Brazil, India, Israel, Spain, France, the Congo, Africa, Chile, Switzerland, Palestine, Ireland, Canada, and the United States.

People came from all backgrounds — film directors, newspaper owners, businessmen, artists, musicians, singers, doctors, teachers, and vice presidents.

People were from all ages, from Jason Crowe who at the age of nine started campaigning for social justice and the need to unite the youth of the world in peace, to grandmothers.

And from all religious backgrounds — Hindu, Islamic, Buddhist, Jewish, Christians. It gave me a vision of what the School of Metaphysics is growing and becoming.

I learned much about self value during this conference. I learned that I have something of value to offer these people and that they were really interested in the school. I admit that I was nervous about sharing with people at first. I wasn’t sure how people would receive what I said but I realized that everyone was there to make a difference. They wanted to meet other like-minded individuals. I was amazed at how many people felt the same way I did about peace and the need to do something to bring it about. I felt that people were trying to reach across the barriers that normally separate them to find a common ground where they could meet and discuss issues in the world peacefully. I left the conference realizing that much still needed to be done but I really felt connected to a lot of the people. People had a great desire to remain connected after the conference and a couple of web sites are being set up where activities of those from the conference can be posted. I look forward for another opportunity to meet with these people in the future.
