PEACE DOME, what it's like to build

The Peace of Sacred Service

by Erika Scholz

I trudged up the concrete ramp to the second floor of the Peace Dome, with the wind biting through my coat. Tired of winter and feeling rather disagreeable, I quickly pulled my attention to the present after nearly slipping on a patch of ice.

I shook my gloomy thoughts off with the cold as I entered the Dome. "We are creating a collective consciousness of peace with this structure that will cause a resonance of peace to move across the face of the earth," I reminded myself. My commitment to this endeavor of creating the Peace Dome and all that it signifies runs deep. I stilled my mind and entered into the sacred space with peace.

As I crossed the threshold, I was once again struck by the beauty and holiness of this sanctuary. Graceful white walls curve upward in a gentle circle to embrace the heavens. Sounds dance around the form, and even my breath whispers back to me from across the great space. I am moved by thoughts of peace, embracing the consciousness of the Dome. The essence of love is present here, spinning and circling into a vortex that pours in a funnel out of the top of the Dome, mushrooming up and out around the surrounding areas and into the earth itself. Peace washed over me, my unpleasant mood removed from my consciousness.

Bringing my self to the task at hand, I got out the little red shop vac and began cleaning the floor. I was preparing the Peace Dome for the Atlantean Awakening Spiritual Focus Session that was being held over the weekend. With a still mind, I began to breathe with the dome as I moved in a rhythmic, spiral pattern, vacuuming the floor.

The hum of the vacuum began to take on an ethereal quality. I heard the sacred sound of OM reverberating off the walls and in my mind. I was moving as one with Creation.

Suddenly I was in a sacred chamber. I was dressed as a monk, cleaning the floors of the monastery. My heart was filled with humbleness and gratitude to be able to serve in this way.

The past-life flash connected with my present experience and I felt a surge of Truth and Understanding. The sacred service I was performing in the Dome was connecting me with all of Creation, allowing me to know myself as part of the whole. I saw the divine beauty and grace that is present as each of us chooses to serve the whole. This service aligns, heals, and purifies the consciousness of the giver.

The Peace Dome gave me this gift as I served. I experienced the blessing of abundance that day in the Dome. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve humanity in this way. St. Francis of Asisi said it best. "For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born in eternal life."
